Flu Clinic Dates
Posted on 7 Sep 2017
Autumn is fast approaching and we will be commencing our flu delivery programme. It is particularly important for all patients with heart, chest or kidney disease, diabetes and other long term illnesses, along with all over 65s, to receive the vaccine.
We can also provide, at the Saturday Flu clinics, or any other time, pneumonia and shingles vaccinations. The pneumonia vaccination is a one-off vaccine for everyone over 65, and the shingles vaccination can be given if you were aged 70-75 or 78-79 on or after 1st September 2017, again as a ‘one-off vaccine.’ Please note that these vaccines may not be suitable for a small number of patients, but the nurse or GP can confirm eligibility at the appointment.
Remember, having your flu jab at the Surgery (rather than a pharmacy) helps maintain practice funding, which otherwise would hinder our ability to buy equipment or employ additional staff. Last year 338 people had their flu jabs given elsewhere and, as a result, income for those injections went to the private companies and their shareholders rather than your practice.
